I am obviously terrible at this, but there's no good excuse other than...life...and no real way to get better except for just diving right in and starting:

I want to do a big update on unfinished projects i've slowly been trying to finish, mostly just to prove to myself i've gotten through some of them, but i made this in early fall 2010 - so that might help illustrate how far behind i am in even documenting projects i've been working on. please ignore the cat hairs, unflattering hands-in-pockets pose and the excessive wrinkles.

I am really loving these hair tutorials on A Cup of Jo and find myself wishing my hair was a tiny bit longer.

This is a pretty great project by Aymie Spitzer; I may NEED my own collection of hand-carved letters now. this is just in time for my renewed interest in linoleum block carving - it might be time to break out the tools.

These are still sort of awesome.

lastly, i'm really, really excited about an upcoming project that i think could be pretty great!

And, like that, i'm back on the wagon again!

technically, there are a lot of more important things to think about, but i just wanted to take a moment to say goodbye to an old friend:

on to bigger and better things, i'm sure, but you will be missed.

this may be the best thing that's ever happened to me at work. ever.

i had to go through old photos and records for this sort-of-fundraiser/initiative we're working on, and i found this. i kind of don't want to ever find out what this is about. terrifying and amazing.

i'm trying to work on a shared goal (with these fabulous friends) of posting at least once a week, but i can't seem to craft quickly enough. i'm working on another pair of knit pants, so hopefully those will be done later today, but it's a busy day ahead of me, so we'll see.

in the meantime, a friend - with whom i and another friend have an idea brewing for a special project in the vicinity of the vein of the above - threw a party for her mom's birthday and i helped where i could, as she'd made a lot of the decor beforehand. i was pretty in love with how everything turned out.

-operation NICE is absolutely beautiful and makes me want to be a better person

-improv everywhere is just hilarious and i love that they just want to bring fun to the everyday

what lovely reminders to be kind and thoughtful and interested and joyful

a friend directed me to the katie did journal a couple of months ago and we both became obsessed with the sweet and modern clothing katie makes for her gorgeous kids. i hope she sells patterns one day because i'd buy them all in a snap. if i ever have kids, they'll basically just wear replicas of these kids' wardrobes. i'd be happy to have any of these in my closet, not to mention i'm so impressed with the amazing crafts and science projects they all work on together. i'm taking a garment sewing class in the fall and dream of attempting to make something half as cute as these for myself to wear constantly:

i, like everyone else, have been feeling ruffles, soft neutrals, and the english countryside look for a while now. a couple of months ago, the grey, ruffled sweater i'd been working on for the past several months got it's final dose of inspiration from the soft, metallic pink i'd seen revived again. i love these looks, in particular:
